Fast Forward to Today...June Sometime
Have been majorly slack in finishing my Tassie Tales but a quick update...
Currently in Coffs Harbour, northern NSW. Was in Sydney last weekend when the massive storms hit, and was in Newcastle a few days later to see the PASHA BULKA maroonedon Nobby:s Beach. It is carrying over 770 tonnes of fuel, weighing a total of 40,000 tonnes in total. What a sight to see - the beach has been closed and barracaded to prevent members of the general public from doing anything stupid like touching it. Which you could very easily do as it right on the shore.
Never underestimate the power of water.
I also bought a new computer which is why some of my typing is a bit off. That came from Jules (London Calling parties in Osaka). Long story but was great seeing him in Sydders over the weekend.
Finally - Creepy Story,,,We stayed in Forster last night. Went out and grabbed some dinner. Fell asleep around 11. All was ok at 1am when i woke up and turned off the heater. Thank god i did that because otherwise i would not haard our door opening at 1.45 am. I was lying in bed, trying to get back to sleep when i suddenly heard the door softly swooshing on the ground as it opened. I bolted up roght in bed to see a man in a cap standing in our doorway. Quick as a flash i jumped across the room to the door as the man ran away. I slammed the door shut and locked and bolted it which woke Meg who had no idea what had just happened. I was in absolute shock i just stood there and stammered 'there was a man trying to get in our room.' A few seconds later we heard footsteps coming back to our door and we could see his shadow on the wall of our room through a gap in the curtains. Then we heard him walk away again. I think he came back about half an hour later because i heard some soft thuds coming in the direction of the door as though someone tried to open it but couldn:t because it was locked.
A few creepy points: our phone in the room did not work so we could not call reception. The man on duty in the morning, who also checked us in, told me that ourroom did have a funny phone that often did not work and thast it was the only one that played up.
Same man also said he heard funny noises during the night.
Same man also checked us into the room that was the only one with a front blocked by a garden. There were only 3 other guests in the motel that night, all of them on the other side of the compound. Was a very windy night so no-one else would have heard anything.
The motel was designed so that passersby cannot see in to the complex at all. So unless you knew what was behind this motel front, you would not go in.
Same man also said he was the cleaner and that the owners were away.
All I know is that I did not sleep for the rest of the night. Megs and I are usually so careful about locking and latching our doors - we must have forgotten this time but we will never forget again.
EFFING SCARY. CREEPY. I could not even lie down again last night. So tired today. Thought way too much about it. Night.
