a The Transit Lounge: July 2012

Back in the Day: I had a quarter life crisis, headed to Osaka, Japan for the unknown–only to discover that a passport plane ride are not necessarily a ticket to escape. Some Years Later: Settled back in Oz, the man of my dreams ended up in Tokyo for work–which is how a passport and plane ride showed me home is where the heart is. And Now: Well as luck would have it, we are about to embark on Japan Mark 3, with a baby in tow and another on the way...

You Know You're In Japan When...

I spent the weekend in Tokyo, checking out our new digs. And in case at any time I forgot where I was, there were many reminders.

Dango, dango and more dango!

The Baker's Vagina Monologues. Hungry?

Remember my obsession with Q10? It never actually ended.

Taking your pig for a stroll.

Making a statement with your shopping bag! Not quite sure I would use orgasm and children in the same sentence.

Toe socks and geta, a winning combination.

That's Japan, baby!

Back to Blogging: Round Three Starts

It's funny how it seems to work out with this blog and I.

I move to Japan, I start to blog. I move back to Australia, and the blogging stops. So a couple of years later, I move back to Japan and lo and behold, I start blogging again. Then comes another move back to Oz two years later, I try to sustain said blogging but it invariably ends up petering out between work and morning sickness vomits.

And then comes June 2012 when my husband gets offered a job in, you'll never guess where, Japan, for the second time in his own career. I quit work, prepare to move and....start blogging again.

I am not sure the direction The Transit Lounge will take this time. Round One was quite personal, Round Two had much more emphasis on the crazy in Japan, and with Round Three, well who knows?

Like I said, it's funny how it has worked out with this blog. Back in 2004 when I chose the title, "The Transit Lounge", I had no idea just how fitting it would actually be to my future self.

So, for the meantime it is sayonara Australia and a mecha big konnichiwa to the land with its own special brand of life, Japan.
